Concrete Finishes over the Week-End Continues to Build Kraig's Confidence
Sunday, 7 March 2010 -

We have all heard the expression, “What a difference a year makes,” and it couldn’t hold more truth that it did for Kraig Kinser this week-end at the World of Outlaws Sprint Series races in Tulare, CA. Last year Kraig had to take a provisional to start the A-Feature, but this year he finished with an eighth place finish on Friday and a fourth place finish on Saturday night.

Kraig started the season strong during the Outlaws opener in Volusia, FL, but struggled during their last race in Las Vegas. Although, Kraig was battling with the flu while racing in Las Vegas, he still didn’t feel comfortable when he was out on the track and knew they were going to have to make some changes headed to Tulare. The two-day event at Tulare was a benefit to the team.

“This is a brand new race team and we still have a lot to learn,” said Kraig. “We didn’t come into the week-end where we wanted to be, but we were able to make changes that got us going good at the end of the week-end.”

The ability to make the necessary changes Kraig needs to keep going forward says a lot about the capabilities of this new 11K team, and it shows out on the track. Kraig feels like he can be competitive and has been able to get out there and show that he will be a contender.

“I can’t tell you how good it feels to be able to move forward in a race,” said Kraig. “I’m having a lot of fun already this year, and I just hope we continue to build from this momentum.”

Seeing the smile on Kraig’s face after he climbs out the car can tell the story itself. Watching the way he can get out and laugh with the guys he is racing with is just a neat experience. In the past year, Kraig’s father, Steve, and close friend, Jason Sides, have been out dueling on the track, with Kraig not being much of a threat. Now that Kraig is right there with them, they all seem to be in great spirit and will enjoy any opportunity to be out there racing against one another. It should be a really fun season, and hopefully, good fortune continues to follow Kraig along the 2010 Outlaw tour.
